AI Exchange July - Wayve, Tessl, Snyk

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our biggest AI Exchange turnout yet.

It was great to see so many new faces in the audience, as well as those familiar faces who we are pleased to see each month!

A special thank you to our speakers from Wayve, Tessl and Snyk for sharing their insights and giving us three insightful talks on the future of AI powered software engineering.

From exploring how AI agents are being deployed in software development workflows, to examining how AI is reshaping the role of the software engineer, and understanding why Security and AgentOps are becoming essential for keeping autonomous systems reliable, this event dived into how engineering teams are adapting to a future where AI is becoming a core part of the software development lifecycle.

Dave Kirk explored how Wayve is using AI agents to support code review, with a focus on making sure their output is reliable, accurate and useful. He shared how the team measures agent performance, gathers feedback and continuously refines prompts to improve results, highlighting that observability, evaluation and data driven decision making are essential for deploying AI agents in production. Rather than replacing engineers, Dave showed how AI can enhance software development when paired with the right guardrails and oversight.



Amy Heineike from Tessl explored how AI is reshaping the role of the software engineer, arguing that the future lies in guiding and managing AI agents rather than simply writing code. She introduced the concept of the "harness engineer", responsible for setting guardrails, defining coding standards and using analytics to ensure AI generated code is reliable, maintainable and production ready.



Nick Vinson explored the growing security challenges of autonomous AI agents, demonstrating why traditional security practices alone are no longer enough. He shared practical approaches for securing AI systems through strong guardrails, zero trust principles and AgentOps, showing how engineering teams can safely deploy AI agents while reducing risk and maintaining control as they become more autonomous.
