Most security roles ask you to protect a product.
This one asks you to figure out how to secure AI systems that don't just answer questions but take action.
We're partnering with a fast growing AI startup building software to automate complex, manual workflows for large businesses. As its product becomes more capable and takes on more responsibility, security is becoming an increasingly important part of the engineering challenge.
That's where you come in.
They're looking for a hands on engineer to become the go to person across the platform. You'll work closely with the founders and engineering team to identify weaknesses, challenge assumptions and build security into the product as it evolves.
The interesting bit is the nature of the problems. How do you ensure an AI agent can only access what it's supposed to? How do you protect sensitive data, enforce permissions across interconnected systems, and stop an agent from being manipulated into doing something it shouldn't? These aren't just theoretical questions. They're practical engineering challenges that come with putting AI to work in real world environments.
You'll take a high level of ownership, from identity and access controls to threat modelling, vulnerability testing and the security of AI driven workflows. You'll be involved in design decisions, get hands on with the code, and work alongside other engineers to turn potential vulnerabilities into practical fixes.
There's a backend engineering element to the role, too. This isn't a position where you sit outside the development process reviewing other people's work. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the product itself, with security remaining your core focus.
You'll be joining a small, highly technical team at an exciting stage of growth, with the backing and ambition to build something meaningful. There's plenty of scope to influence how the product develops, but the emphasis is on being a trusted technical voice and getting things done, rather than building out a large security function.
For the right engineer, it's a chance to take real ownership, work on some genuinely interesting problems at the intersection of AI and security and help shape a product as it scales.
If you enjoy getting into the detail, solving difficult security problems and writing code as well as thinking about how things can go wrong, we'd love to hear from you.
