DevOps Exchange March - Manchester
It’s International Women’s Day on the 8th March and we’re celebrating!
The DevOps Exchange has an ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion within the DevOps industry, and using our platform to provide opportunities for underrepresented talent across all of our events.
On March the 8th we will welcome to the stage 5 inspiring women leaders within the DevOps world, hosted by PwC, in the heart of Manchester.
Our hosts PwC will take the stage to discuss cloud security, followed by blockchain analysis provider, Elliptic who will share best practices and reflections on using Flux to manage Kubernetes resources; finally our 3rd talk will be delivered by two apprentices at KPMG who will provide an insight into their Cloud journey and their personal stories in tech so far.

"How to Secure Your Cloud Environment"
This talk will go through various ways to ensure cloud security within your environment. There will be a comprehensive walk through of security rituals for the main cloud providers AWS , Azure and GCP alongside real life reflections of project executions.
Over the past 8 years, Yasmin has been working with the three main cloud providers, Amazon-Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Azure. Operating on the cloud has allowed the businesses and teams she’s worked with to scale quickly and efficiently, keeping their data more secure as the data is backed up instantaneously.

"Migrating from Flux V1 to V2 with Minimal Downtime"
This talk will describe the advantages of using Flux to manage Kubernetes resources. There will be an explanation of the approach our team took whilst upgrading Flux to ensure minimal downtime. There will also be a summary of: best practices, reflections and next steps our team will need to undertake to make this upgrade a smoother process going forward.
Melisa Pinto is a DevOps Engineer at Elliptic, a crypto compliance company. Her interests lie in: Kubernetes, Containerisation and automating away tech debt.

7:40pm: Maira Usmani & Olivia Hulston @ KPMG
“Our journey into cloud and teaching others how to code”
This talk will be done by two apprentices who are studying towards a degree and working at KPMG and will share their personal stories into tech. At the ages of 22 and 19 they have both accomplished a lot!
Maira is from a non-technical background and has learnt everything related to cloud and programming at KPMG and now
teaching others how to code and sharing her expertise for large clients.
Olivia, a programming enthusiast has paved her way into cloud, being one of the youngest members in the space at KPMG and bringing so much value.
Join us to hear how they have broken stereotypical norms and paved their way into the growing tech industry!
