First up, Corcoran Smith will dive into security findings at TUI and the 3-pronged approach that they use to define and prioritise threats whilst working with Engineering teams.
Joe Goodings from Greenpeace will then share some of the learning points they discovered on their journey from a traditional operations team to a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team.
Finally, John Boero from Terasky will be sharing his views on the future of DevOps and Platform Engineering in a world of AI.
Our usual format will be followed, with the 3 x 20 minute talks starting at 7pm.
Refreshments and drinks will be available on the night, courtesy of Zuhlke Engineering!
Agenda:
7:00pm - Corcoran Smith, Head of Security Architecture @ TUI
"Snakes on a Plane? Easy. Try prioritising 500,000 critical security findings before lunch"
How do teams prioritise security findings when everything is critical, everything is a priority, and not everything is automated? At TUI (think travel - airlines, cruises, holidays, hotels) they take a 3-pronged approach to defining and prioritising threats, working with engineering teams to resolve them, and prove to the business that they are secure.
Bio: I've worked in and around AWS Security for the past ten years, largely in consulting delivery roles, helping enterprises shift-left with their cloud security postures. Recently, I've been appointed Head of Security Architecture at TUI - the world's largest travel provider, with a broad portfolio of security opportunities.
7:20pm - Joe Goodings, Global Systems Architect @ Greenpeace
"OpsDev - Greenpeace Ops Team to SRE Team (From what's Git to Continuous Deployment)"
This talk will briefly look at some of the learning points Greenpeace discovered on their journey from a traditional operations team to a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team.
Joe will mainly focus on their Automation Ecosystem, as this is the defining differentiate between operation and SRE.
Bio: For the past 25 years, I've had the privilege of working for Greenpeace. Throughout this time, I've been deeply involved in leveraging technology to support Greenpeace's mission and drive positive environmental change, as well as been a Greenpeace activist. This has guided my efforts to ensure that technological advancements are aligned with ethical and eco-friendly practices.
7:40pm - John Boero, Field CTO @ Terasky
"The Future of DevOps and Platform Engineering in a world of AI"
Is AI coming for DevOps? This talk consists of a breakdown of what's possible today and how tomorrow's LLM innovation may affect infrastructure management.
Bio: John Boero is a dual US+UK citizen living in London with 20 years experience from development to consulting and presales across Red Hat, Puppet, and HashiCorp. He is an advocate of open source and AI and a contributor on the Llama.cpp project.
We hope to see you all there.
All the best,
