DevOps Exchange Manchester June - AWS, Michael Pearce, Zuhlke Engineering

Join us on Thursday 20th June as the DevOps Exchange Manchester returns for its next event, hosted by our good friends at Zuhlke Engineering, an independent service provider for bespoke product and software engineering.

For this event, we will welcome to the stage Grace Shaffi from Cloud computing company AWS, Information and Security Professional Michael Pearce and Stefan Stanković from our hosts at Zuhlke Engineering.

First up, Grace from AWS will explore how AWS customers using Amazon EKS and Amazon ECS are adopting GitOps with points on how to get started on your own journey.

We then have Michael who will be giving us an introduction to how you can use Google App Script to automate and standardise the generation of documentation in your Google Workspace, as code.

Finally, Stefan from our hosts at Zuhlke Engineering will talk around sustainability in AWS Cloud, the impact of IT on global warming, optimisation measures and measuring CO2 emission from AWS infrastructure.

"Simplifying container platform management with GitOps."

As more tech teams move to building container platforms, the industry is building more tools to simplify and speed up CI/CD pipelines. In this talk we will explore how AWS customers using Amazon EKS and Amazon ECS are adopting GitOps and how to get started on your own journey.

"Automating Documentation using Google Apps Script"

Spreadsheets and documentation are often considered a necessary evil in the DevOps world, so this talk will be an introduction to how you can use Google App Script to automate and standardise the generation of documentation in your Google Workspace (as code!).

"Sustainability in AWS Cloud"

Cloud Computing has been the backbone of IT in recent years, enabling quick access to highly scalable infrastructure that enables quick time to market. With the use of the Cloud, features find their way to the users so much quicker, with the cost of additional CO2 in the atmosphere. This talk will cover:

• The impact of IT on global warming
• The sustainability goal of Coop OneWeb team – measure the emission from AWS infrastructure and optimise for sustainability
• Sustainability metrics in AWS
• Optimisation measures
• Measuring CO2 emission from AWS infrastructure
