The best platforms are the ones engineers don't need to think about, they just work. We’re looking for a lead platform engineer who can make that a reality.
You will be joining a really well respected global consultancy corporation, but you will be working in a UK based digital platform engineering unit, consisting of around 300 platform engineers meaning you are getting the best of both worlds, the security of working in an ever growing big player in the market, and the autonomy of a smaller organisation.
You will be working in a platform engineering centre of excellence on projects in the government and public sector, such as M.O.D, Home office, HMRC and DWP. Working with the cutting edge in technology, you’ll be delivering modernisation of their clients' platforms and moving legacy applications into microservices, pushing environments in AWS and Kubernetes.
One of the great parts of working at the organisation is that they offer an unlimited training budget, where you are encouraged to learn new technologies, for example 280 of their engineers have gained their CKA exam through their internal training schemes which is the most number of people from one company to have passed that exam. Further a new initiative they have launched encourages new hires to gain 3 Kubernetes certifications within their first year, of course all funded by them, alongside clear support to continue progressing.
This organisation is also the 2nd biggest AWS premier partner in the world meaning they have achieved the highest level of validation for expertise and scale in providing AWS services showing their proven track record of successful projects at scale.
The organisation we’re representing are looking for a few core skills and experience requirements, these being:
- Cloud Experience: AWS alongside Azure and GCP as a bonus
- Infrastructure as code: Terraform
- CI/CD & automation: GitHub Actions, Jenkins or similar
- Kubernetes & containers (EKS/AKS)
- Observability & reliability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry
- Platform Thinking: internal developer platforms, self servicing tool
- Leadership experience: mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
If you think you fit the criteria and want to work on meaningful large scale projects with high class engineers, alongside great opportunities for career progression and expanding your personal skillset, then you could be the perfect candidate.
