This is an opportunity to lead teams, influence architecture, and still stay close to the technology.
We are looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to join a large global consultancy within its specialised Cloud Centre of Excellence unit. You will get the scale, security and backing of a major organisation while working in a smaller high performing engineering unit where your contribution is visible, your voice carries weight, and you are not lost in the crowd.
You will work on large scale government and public sector programmes focused on modernising legacy estates, improving existing infrastructure, and building secure cloud native platforms across AWS and Kubernetes environments. The role involves breaking complex systems down into scalable microservices and delivering modern platform capabilities that improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience. You will also help drive cloud optimisation across large and complex estates, applying a platform product mindset to build scalable and reusable solutions rather than one off fixes.
Professional development is also a huge part of the culture here. The company is offering an unlimited training budget and actively encourages engineers to continue developing their professional expertise. One of their major initiatives supports engineers in achieving three Kubernetes certifications within their first year, fully funded and backed by structured internal support and mentoring.
The company is looking for someone who can lead engineering teams and manage stakeholders effectively whilst remaining hands on technically. You will stay close to the technology with a strong focus on AWS, Kubernetes including EKS and AKS, Terraform, Jenkins, and observability tooling such as Prometheus and OpenTelemetry. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers, influencing technical direction, and helping define engineering standards across major programmes.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering problems at scale, working with strong technical teams, and having genuine influence over how modern platforms are designed and delivered.
If you want to work on meaningful large scale platforms with strong engineers and real technical impact, this is a great opportunity.
