DevOps Exchange London July - Wayve, Motorway, Slalom Build

Join us on Thursday 25th July for our next London event, hosted by Slalom Build, part of Slalom, a purpose-led, global business and technology consulting company.

We have an incredible line-up for you featuring talks from; David Kirk @ Wayve, a company pioneering AI technology for self-driving cars, Ryan Cormack @ Mortorway, an online-only used car marketplace and James Gibbard from our hosts at Slalom Build.

First up, we will welcome to the stage David Kirk, Platform Engineer at Wayve who will give a high-level overview of the architecture of the infrastructure at Wayve. He will also be diving into their ephemeral environments and how they made it easy for developers to use them while working locally.

Ryan Cormack from Motorway will then explore how you can use various IaC tools to build applications without needing to manage any 'traditional' infrastructure or app code.

Finally, we have James Gibbard from our hosts at Slalom Build who will dive into the challenges faced in moving game development to the cloud, including remote collaboration, data transfer bottlenecks, and managing distributed compute resources.

Our usual format will be followed, with the 3 x 20 minute talks starting at 7pm.

With public clouds offering more and more services, and IaC tooling adopting general purpose programming languages, there can be a blurred line between what infrastructure is and what your code is.

In this talk we'll look at how you can use various IaC tools to build applications without needing to manage any 'traditional' infrastructure or app code and what implications this may have.
