Istio Mesh Expansion (Engineer)

Your Istio and Kubernetes experience is required to take on this contract. The role is with an organisation within the crypto space.

In short, they use Istio for service discovery and traffic management. With their product microservices and most of the other service deployments are within the mesh.

Current Kubernetes clusters that have Istio deployed work under the single-cluster, single-mesh deployment model with routes between the clusters defined outside of Istio. The aim is to unify how traffic is discovered and routed across clusters and to the services within

them. Your job will be to bring deployments non-Istio enrolled

Kubernetes deployment under Istio management. Secondarily, you'll lead the transition to a multi-cluster deployment model for Istio.

Secondarily, you'll also be dealing with the small number of of non-Kubernetes workloads that would benefit from being represented within the Istio mesh as external workloads too.

So, in short, the role will see you:

• Migrating non-Istio enrolled Kubernetes workloads to be part of the mesh.
• Transferring non-Kubernetes workloads to be members of the Istio mesh.
• Migrating Istio deployments inKubernetes clusters to be part of a multi-cluster Istio deployment.
