Leadership

Are you an Engineering Manager looking to take on a new challenge with one of the UK's largest tech and eCommerce companies?

You'll be joining a well-known company that, if you lived in the UK for more than a couple weeks, I can almost guarantee you have used!

As an Engineering Manager in this company you'll have control over a number of 'squads'. Self-sufficient groups of engineers and technologists you own certain parts of the system. The squads consist of back end + front end engineers, BA's, DevOps and Testers owning the full SDLC.

What this means for you is full visibility of entire product buidls from start to finish. Your tech leads will work closely with you on the project roadmap, technical approach and defining best practices for the team.

You'll help mentor and build the teams. Not just in terms of completing projects but directly influencing their careers, upskilling them where you can, advising, mentoring, and being an advocate for learning and improvement.

The tech landscape is mainly Java (8+) with Spring Boot, JavaScript (React) AWS, Reactive Programming (Golang/Scala), NoSQL/Relational Databases and others.

You won't need to have expertise in every single technology mentioned. This is a people management role and this is the focus. You will need to come from a techncial background, but what the background looks like (specific tech or titles) does not matter.

Having worked these types of positions for 6+ years, I am confident it's the type of environment and culture most technologists look for. Scaling company, product-driven, latest technologies, like-minded technologists, collaborative approach, inclusive and diverse team, considerable training/learning opportunities, flexible hours, remote working, extensive benefits, the list goes on...

To confirm, this is a permanent role. You'll be able to work fully remotely also, although some presence in their Manchester based office is required at times.

If you're still reading, it's probably worth a conversation at least. Get in touch with Tom Booth at LinuxRecruit or simply apply to this advert with your CV
