Site Reliability Engineer - Ruby, Golang, AWS, Terraform

Permanent  |  £75000 - £100000.00 per annum  |  Central London  |  City of London

Back End Development

We've recently teamed up with one of the most exciting tech companies in the world right now (no, we genuinely have) that are looking to enlarge their brand new SRE function ahead of a very exciting 12 month period of growth and expansion which is exactly where YOU come in. Throughout the troubles of the pandemic, lockdown etc this company has helped a number of organisations all over the UK in a number of different ways, allowing them to continue trading and ultimately helping them stay afloat and survive!

As an engineer you would come into a business critical team that will be responsible for the reliability, efficiency and scalability of the platform that supports the entire organisation. After their 12 month plan has been completed, this team will then be split into four critical sectors including "security", "reliability and scalability", "developer effectiveness" and "cost optimisation".

The main aspect of the role for now is for engineers to use their strong software engineering credentials (Golang/Ruby) to build software that can be used for increased reliability across their global platform as well as looking out for things that could potentially go wrong and being efficient enough to deal with those issues and ensure that the platform is highly available and scalable at their busiest times working with tools like Datadog, Prometheus and Grafana to name a few.

This is a true case of traditional software development meeting modernised SRE principles and infrastructure work.

The requirements for this position are very simple. You need to have a strong understanding/commercial experience with either Ruby and/or Golang from a developers perspective. Not just developing apps or features, someone that has built software for reliability or from an infrastructure perspective. This is incredibly important.

Other than that, experience with Terraform for IaC, Docker for containers, AWS on the public cloud front would also be necessary. Understanding of CI/CD concepts or Kubernetes for orchestration would be nice to have but not as important as the experience mentioned above.

If you are genuinely excited about the prospect of true style engineering, building reliability with cutting edge tech such as Golang and Ruby and ensuring one of the world's busiest platforms is consistently available at the busiest times for millions of people across the UK to use, please do apply today, I can promise you, you do not want to miss out.
