Peel the skin of an onion, notice all the layers. That would be your responsibility, along with your new team. Every layer of technology. Peeling through networking, servers, application services, on prem, cloud, support - name it and if it is technology, you have the pleasure of owning it. Throwing yourself into any problem, challenge or area that needs to be improved.
Focusing on modern tooling, the desire is for robust, reusable, scalable, automated components. The dream, right?
Structure is flat, you will have responsibility for design, implementation, operations and support. Roll your sleeves up and crack on, making the environment better. Day to day, you’ll administer systems and support end users. As you embed into the firm, you’ll gain exposure to more of the complex systems and be given projects across the whole system infrastructure. Plenty of growth here. Ultimately you’ll manage large projects on your own, this is the goal!
You can show technical knowledge within the areas you have had prior exposure too. If you’ve worked on Linux, you can confidently talk about the command line, same applied to Windows. What you have used isn’t so important, more that you can clearly articulate what you have done, demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the technology you have worked with. How you think is important, reasoning your way through a problem with clear systematic thinking. A genuine desire to learn and engross yourself in the technology is important too.
You’ll have the backing of the team, who will be there to onboard you and mentor you as you get used to the day to day. You’ll be given plenty of opportunities to tinker, researching new ways of doing things, providing innovative solutions and improving overall efficiency within technology.
This is an onsite role. The work you will be doing will require you to interact with physical systems whilst also being on hand to support those working in the office with general IT enquiries. As things need to be done, you and the team will pick them up. Monitoring equipment, and upgrading workstations - every layer of technology!
A unique opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on the day to day operations of an innovative financial services company.
