This role is pivotal to the organisation's success, you’ll manage and enhance High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems and Scientific Computing services. You'll work with an impressive infrastructure, including a 1,200-core HPC cluster and a Research Data Storage Services well into the Petabytes - experience at PB scale is a real bonus. Ideally, you will have also worked with GPFS, incorporating this into storage solutions within a HPC environment. Your skills will be key in shaping the design, integration, and implementation of these systems, giving you hands-on experience with state-of-the-art technology that fuels global scientific progress.
You’re comfortable with Linux, adept at scripting, and ready to dive into infrastructure support, ensuring that the scientists have what they need to conduct their work and research. This role offers variety—whether it’s patching bugs, building servers, or supporting research operations. You’re collaborative, confident, and skilled at communicating with both technical and non-technical teams.
The team works onsite, the systems require you to be there, and so do the scientists. They may need you to talk them through how to use a specific system or quickly support them with an issue they are having which may affect the results of years of research. You’ll join a supportive, collaborative team where your input has a real impact. Working with advanced technology, you'll help power research that improves lives worldwide.
