The Return of DOXELONA - Viaplay Group, Allianz Technology, Veriff

DevOps Exchange Barcelona April

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our first onsite event in 4 years (we can’t believe it’s been that long). Now, let's take a moment to reminisce on the fantastic evening we shared.

Hosted by our good friends at Veriff, at last night’s event we listened to talks from Viaplay Group, Allianz Technology and Veriff. It was a fantastic evening where we were fortunate enough to meet many new faces to the community in addition to many new members.

First up, we welcomed Pablo Bouzada from Viaplay Group as he dived into what he sees as the most critical factors and common issues when an organisation tries to change its culture, why organisations or employees refuse to accept the change and examples of how to work with them and alter their perspective.

Pere Alcoberro from Allianz Technology then joined us to discuss his journey in migrating to Crossplane and how it works now in Allianz Technology.

Pere went into great detail on the Allianz Business Master Platform (BMP), and the toolchain evolution behind this and Verticalization. Key takeaways include:

  • Provide infrastructure as a service has a direct impact in the velocity to deliver.
  • Methodology and organization, dedicated teams with DevOps approach increase the value.
  • Maintenance is a heavy key
  • Every use-case needs a big effort for the infrastructure development

Last, but certainly not least Ricard Borràs Navarra from our hosts at Veriff gave an insightful talk around how they deploy computer vision models by leveraging a mix of classic software engineering techniques combined with the latest AWS tooling.

Ricard went into detail on Veriff’s current and previous identity verification solution, the building blocks involved and how specific architecture supported this deployment. He also touched on the results so far, and the challenges that he has faced during this process.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who dedicated their evening to us and a huge thank you to our speakers for their knowledgeable talks and our hosts, Veriff for hosting.

The DevOps Exchange Community is growing, so be sure to follow us on Twitter & LinkedIn to keep up to date with new locations, events and speakers.
