Scala Central #19
We kicked off Scala Central #19 with a great turn out at the Medidata offices in Hammersmith.
Despite the glorious weather it was brilliant to see so many familiar and new faces.
We started with drinks on the roof terrace looking out across London, ready for a range of talks.
Igal Levis, Manuel Santiago and Steve Sitton from Medidata started off the event and further talks followed from Magnus Valle and Martin Gwarada.
We followed a similar format to our last meetup at Babylon Health with 5 shorter talks. We had a real range of topics such as Machine Clustering, Typeclasses, Apache Spark and Value Classes and learning Scala as an Engineering Manager, so hopefully there was something there for everyone.
Thanks to those of you who made it, we hope you enjoyed it and for those of you who didn’t, we have the videos available for you below;
Talk 1 - Igal Levis - Senior Application Engineer - Medidata
Typeclasses & Akka Http
Talk 2 - Manuel Santiago - Staff Applications Engineer - Medidata
Clusterfunk - Finite State Machine Clustering
Talk 3 - Steve Sitton - Engineering Manager - Medidata
Learning Scala as an Engineering Manager
Talk 4 - Magnus Valle - Scala Developer - MoneyFarm
Value Classes
Value Classes are a cheap and easy way to utilise the rule system increase the to eliminate simple and avoidable bugs.
